Tsukimi lives in a house called Amamizukan where boys are strictly prohibited. It’s no small surprise then when the members of such a strange house also have a strong aversion to popular people sometimes nicknamed “stylish.” Unfortunately for Tsukimi, one very strange “stylish.” Who may not be what “she” seems to be…
Actual violence is low in this show. Mainly slapstick humor.
This is very much a TV14 show, so expect a few b-words mixed in with the usual d-mns and sh-ts. Not as much as Hollywood pumps out, but they’re there.
The worst aspect of this in the show, aside from a guy character being without a shirt a few times and some comments about busts, would be one particular female character who “tricks” a guy into an easily misunderstood position with her, making him believe he’s made love to her (he didn’t). She wears lingerie in that scene. We don’t see anything “indecent,” but it’s clear what she wishes to imply. This section alone bunks this to a strong YA rating.
Not much to put here. Tsukimi sometimes speaks to her dead mother, but there isn’t much implied by that aside from the fact that she’s lonely.
I really adored this show. Still do, in fact. It’s got a great heaping of comedy, layered on top of an interesting and likeable cast and heartwarming character development. The only downside is the length, which is quite short indeed considering how much story can be worked on in the future (the end implies another arc or two in the bleachers). The art is a bit older in style, but sylistic enough to fit with the tone of the show. As is the music. Nothing extrodinary here, but they get the job done.
This said, action isn’t what this show is about. Although the pace is brisk with laughs and drama, it’s not an action flick and still qualifies as a mainly shoujo show. So if that’s not your thing, there’s no guarantee the comedy will make up for it. Then again… that opener references a crazy amount of pop culture. Star Wars makes sense, but I never knew Japan was big on Mary Poppins. Gotta give a show serious props for that one. Very serious props.
