Warning Zone: KONOSUBA -God’s blessing on this wonderful world!

The  What:
Kazuma is a shut in. Or was. He kinda got himself killed. And he may or may not have done so in a very embarrassing manner. Regardless, he gets a chance to be reincarnated into a world very much like an RPG. And he’s allowed to take one thing with him. In a fit of spiteful rage, he chooses to bring his reincarnation goddess. Unfortunately for him, she’s kinda an idiot.

The Why:
The violence and language isn’t too bad in this title, but, sadly, there’s the nudity to consider. Where the body types of some of the characters, along with one character’s obsession with being physically assaulted, definitely give lots of fanservice, one entire episode really takes the cake for this section. It’s the second to last episode where very scantily clad, large chested females are shown in a shop that allows men to request extensive erotic dreams. The usual comedy shenanigans ensue and while fine details manage to remain covered, we get very little left to the imagination for both the female and male characters. It’s less fanservice than soft porn, so be VERY warned on that. Honestly, you could probably skip episode 9 altogether if you wanted, but there it is.
Note: One of my reader’s has brought to my attention that episode 9 could arguably contain sexual harassment. Due to the characters and circumstances of said episode, I’d say Haruhi Suzumiya has more harassment than this show, but I won’t deny just how extremely problematic episode 9 is. Seriously.
Other than that, this show isn’t that different from most TV14 shows. It has no real plot and pretty much depends entirely on its parody comedy to get by. On that level, it’s ok. But there are better shows out there. If you don’t want to deal with episode 9, it might be best to just skip this one over.
Then again, if nudity doesn’t bother you, there are a few good moments in this. Especially if all those RPG anime shows tick you off and you have a craving to poke fun at them.

About inrosegalaxy

Raised on everything from Moby Dick to the Star Wars X-Wing books from a young age, it came as no surprise to anyone who knew me that I’d become a literature graduate and avid writer. But my love of a good story wasn’t restricted to the written word in my early years. Star Trek, Mystery Science Theater 3000, and badly dubbed Godzilla flicks helped shape my love of science fiction on screen as well. I wrote my first story while in the second grade. It was a horrifying tale about murdering a fairy-eating dog via a slice of pizza (in my defense, my only exposure to pizza was in the cafeteria and I swear you could legitimately kill someone with those things). I was a special snowflake. Today I write science fiction, fairy tales, Gothic epistolaries, fantasy and anything else that pops into my bizarre and twisted mind. I write new articles for my blog every Tuesday and Thursday. And if you happen to fancy Japanese animation, I also run an anime review blog, RRAR, which updates every Monday.

    • I actually wouldn’t exactly call that assault. Harassment, perhaps, but I find the harassment in shows like Haruhi Suzumiya far worse and those weren’t WZ-ed (I am not defending the show in any way. I hated that episode).
I did warn strongly about that episode in the Nudity section, too. Perhaps I’ll re-word it stronger to really get the point across…

      • I agree with you about hating that episode, if there’s another like it in S2 then Konosuba gets dropped immediately. I don’t remember Haruhi well enough to comment on the comparison.

      • I enjoyed the show ok (beside from ep 9), but if there’s a season 2, I probably won’t see it regardless. It wasn’t a title that wowed me at that much. It was funny, but not like My Ordinary Life funny or anything, ya know? Honestly the funniest part of the whole show for me was how upset the headless lord was that they never journeyed to his castle to fight him. THAT was funny. Everything else was the kind of funny that’s amusing in the moment, but nothing you actively tell others about with glowing recommendation.
        At least, not for me.

Now that I’m looking back on it though, I think I’m gonna go ahead and reformulate this thing to a full WZ. Even though I still don’t think assault happened (or even straight up harassment), the amount of nudity is pretty damn high.
